エレコムが現地時間2月19日に正式発表が噂される、新型iPhone SEの正式名称が「iPhone 16E」であることを流出してしまった可能性がある。エレコム公式サイトのサイト内検索画面で「iPhone 16」と検索すると、「iPhone 16E」が候補として登場することが確認されている。

ティム・クックCEOの言葉から紐解く「iPhone 16E」の可能性
「iPhone 16E」の名称が採用されることは、必ずしも非現実的ではない。ティム・クックCEOは19日の発表を予告する際に、「Get ready to meet the newest member of the family」と投稿している。

直訳すると「新しい家族メンバーに出会う準備をしてください」となるが、「新しい家族メンバー」は「すでにある家族」に「新メンバーが加わる」と読み取れる。「iPhone 16」という家族に「iPhone 16E」という新メンバーが加わると解釈することができる。
なおBloombergの人気ジャーナリストMark Gurman氏や中国からの情報を中心に発信するリーカーなども、「iPhone 16E」の名称になると予想している。
