有名テックYouTuber、Appleのラボに潜入。iPhoneの耐久テスト装置を見学

Marques BrownleeことMKBHDが、AppleのラボでiPhoneの耐久テストが行われている様子を見学。その様子を動画とともに報告している。

iPhoneの耐水性能を検証する専用の部屋が用意されており、IPX4からIPX8まで異なるテスト内容が行われている。落下耐性の検証は購入した専用のロボットを使い、何百種類もの角度や落下する素材を試した上でハイスピードカメラでスローモーション撮影された映像を確認するという。

乗り物の揺れを再現するための専用装置もあり、バイクや地下鉄など振動のある環境でデバイスの動作を検証する目的で活用されているそうだ。

Appleのハードウェアエンジニアリング担当バイスプレジデントJohn Ternus氏とのインタビューでは、特定のiPhoneモデルを出荷するまで10,000回ものテストを行っていることを明らかにしている。
