Echofonが静かに買収されてた

世間がXperia arcやMac App Storeの話題で盛り上がっていいる中、MacでもiPhoneでもiPadでもお世話になっているEchofonがPostupに買収されていた。

I am excited to tell you that we have been acquired by Postup, an Idealab company.

Postup plans to keep Echofon team and products intact, and we are working hard on improving the family of Echofon products. New iPhone version should be out in weeks, and you’ll see amazing new features on Echofon for Firefox that will be available in beta sometime later this month.

Echofon started as my personal project three years ago and I never imagined it would become so popular, being used by millions of people. I would like to thank you all for your support that enabled our growth, and hope we can keep providing clean and simple user experience.

Postupはリアルタイム検索向けの広告プラットフォームを作成しているようで、その検索アルゴリズムなどはTechCrunchでも利用されているようだ。正直Postup、と聞いて名前しか知らなかったので少し不安だったが、なんだか大丈夫そうだ。

Echofonは僕がTweetlistを使うまでに最も愛用していたiPhoneアプリ。Macでは今でも絶賛愛用中である。余談だが、このアプリの愛用者といえば、大学の研究室の先輩でもあるジャーナリストの @taromatsumura 。Echofon is best twitter client for iPadなどとブログで書いている辺り、かなり愛用してるようだった。突然の買収はびっくりしたが、引き続き、良いサービスを提供し続けてほしい。
